Aston Villa aren’t giving up on Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus, but it appears they are going to need to be extra convincing to get Steven Gerrard his man.

Various reports suggested that the Villans increased their offer of €22m to €25m for the Uruguayan midfielder, but that still wasn’t enough to get the Serie A side to accept.

It’s been made clear they want at least €30m for their man, a fee Villa have yet to reach, but there’s also the player to get on their side.

A couple of reports have suggested he could nearly double his wages at Villa Park if he were to make the move, and now Calciomercato.it reveal his actual demands.

The website state Bentancur ‘is asking for a €3.5m/€4m salary to leave Turin’, and there is still an ‘important distance’ between the two clubs as things stand.

With just a few days left in the transfer window, it remains to be seen how far Aston Villa are willing to go, having already recruited heavily in what is normally a quiet window.
