Monday was a big day for Aston Villa, as Unai Emery’s side decided it was time to pull out the big guns to go after Moussa Diaby.

The Bayer Leverkusen forward was the subject of a €50m offer from the Villans, with that fee split into €45m up front and €5m in bonuses.

L’Equipe recall that on Tuesday, as they reveal that Al-Nassr have also come forward with their own bid for the Frenchman, which currently stands at €43m.

To date, Leverkusen have ‘still not replied’ to Aston Villa regarding the €50m for the player, and with the Saudi club’s offer being slightly lower, it seems unlikely they will say yes to that first.

However, Al-Nassr have ‘assured being able to go higher’ with their money for Diaby if they want, which could entice the Bundesliga side into the idea of creating a big auction for their star.

As for the forward in all this, he is in ‘full reflection’ regarding his future, as he hasn’t ‘discarded the possibility’ of teaming up with Cristiano Ronaldo, which would obviously be a blow for Aston Villa.

It’s made clear ‘the next few days will be decisive’, and we will have to keep an eye out for any movement from Al-Nassr, as it sounds they could easily surpass the bid from Villa Park if needed.

Should that happen, the ball will be in Aston Villa’s court, who will have to decide whether to exceed their current €50m offer or simply look elsewhere.
