Aston Villa gave their fans something to smile about at the weekend, with a 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers at Villa Park.
Automatic promotion may well be too far away already for Steve Bruce’s men, considering the point difference, but the play-offs are well within reach and give Villa a reason to be optimistic.
Another reason to smile at Villa is certain players returning to their best, or close to it, one of those has been Frenchman Jordan Amavi. Hit by a cruel injury at the beginning o last season, Amavi has fought his way back.
Unfortunately, that fighting has led to an injury to the right foot, with French newspaper L’Equipe explaining the Aston Villa player required stitches.
That has in turn led to him pulling out of France’s U21 squad to face Ivory Coast and England.
It may be a blessing in disguise, allowing Amavi a little rest rather than going away on international duty.
There’s a long season ahead for Aston Villa and considering Amavi serious injury from last season, a little rest could be the right turn of events.
