According to Scouts Attending, Aston Villa sent a scout to the game between Bayern Munich and Hamburg at the weekend.

With Aston Villa in the mix to get promotion to the Premier League it seems like they are already looking to next season, and the summer transfer window.

It’s been claimed Aston Villa were attendance at the Allianz arena on Saturday to watch Bayern Munich thrash Hamburg 6-0. There have been no reports who Aston Villa were watching, but it’s more likely their focus would have been on Hamburg, given the players who turned out for Bayern Munich.

Hamburg are in serious danger of being relegated to Bundesliga 2, which could result in a mass exodus of key players in the summer.

The German side are currently experiencing dire financial problems, and demotion to the second tier would almost certainty mean players would be offloaded in the next transfer window.

This could give Aston Villa and other clubs the opportunity to take advantage of Hamburg’s situation, and possibly move in.

German newspaper Bild report today that Kyriakos Papadopoulos is just one of the players who will be leaving in the summer.
