Aston Villa are to complete a move for Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson, with the player expected at Villa Park ‘very soon’.

That’s according to Telefoot, via journalist Johnny Severin, who backs up claims from England that Villa have got their man.

Aston Villa have been linked with a move for Sanson throughout this week, with it believed Dean Smith is eyeing up the midfielder as a potential bargain recruit this month.

It initially appeared they would not get the player as Marseille derided their initial offer, but the narrative has changed over the last 24 hours, with a deal seemingly edging closer after negotiations.

Severin says it has now been finalised, stating that the transfer is a ‘done deal’ after Villa agreed a €19m price for the Frenchman. That deal will be €16m with €3m in addons.

He also reports that Sanson has signed a four and a half year contract at Villa Park having been ‘convinced’ by the project that Aston Villa presented to him.

This is backed up by RMC Sport journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi, who says the two clubs have found an agreement on an €18m deal for the player.

He also states the player will sign a four and a half year contract and is now set to fly to England to undergo a medical in the next 48 hours before becoming Villa’s first signing of this winter window.
