Aston Villa again attended a Benfica game last night, according to claims in Portugal. The Championship side sent officials to Benfica’s league clash with SC Braga following their trip to Lisbon last week for the Portuguese giant’s Champions League tie with Besiktas.
Desporto Sapo have revealed Aston Villa scouts were in attendance for last night’s game which Benfica won 3-1.
Clubs from England and wider Europe sent officials to the game including Arsenal, Sheffield Wednesday, Bayer Leverkusen, Brugge, Celtic, Everton, Inter Milan, Manchester United, Montpellier, Strasbourg, Lens, Real Betis, Spartak Moscow and Trabzonzpor.
However, just like last week when Aston Villa were in Portugal there have been no reports who they watching, and therefore it may have just been a general scouting trip. Aston Villa have been active in the country in recent times after they were seen at Braga last season.
Portuguese football in recent seasons has been attracting clubs from across Europe looking to see what talent is coming through the system.
