As Aston Villa’s pursuit for Villarreal manager Unai Emery seems to be moving fast, Spanish outlet Marca comes up with strong information on the chase.
Following a first story where Marca had already claimed the negotiations were ‘hot’ and could be done in the next ‘hours or days’, it’s now time for them to say there’s already an ‘agreement in principle’.
Those claims are now in the story’s headline, with a new paragraph saying their sources claim the deal with Aston Villa is ‘a fact’, and Emery may not even make it to the bench for Villarreal’s match in the Conference League on Thursday.
It’s said the Villa Park side offered the manager a three-season project, plus an optional extra year. The opportunity is described as a ‘more than interesting deployment in terms of sporting level’.
The news about Aston Villa’s hunt for Emery was broken by the Spanish media just a couple of hours ago, and if Marca are correct it only took a few rounds of conversations for them to convince the manager to leave Villarreal and make a new move to the Premier League.
Emery came close to joining Newcastle United last season, before deciding to reject the Magpies.
