If RMC Sport are correct on Wednesday afternoon, then it’s only a matter of time before Aston Villa’s Jordan Amavi is announced as Marseille player.

Late on Tuesday evening, the very same outlet claimed the player had agreed a four-year deal with the Ligue 1 side ahead of a potential move, with the two clubs still in discussions over the terms of the transfer.

Marseille were keen on a loan with a view to buy that basically guaranteed a permanent move down the line, and offered a €2m + €8m one year loan offer for the Villains to mull over.

Well, it seems that, or a slightly altered offer, has been accepted on Wednesday, as RMC Sport report on their live blog the French side and Aston Villa have reached an agreement.

Furthermore, Amavi is now expected to hop on a plane to Marseille on Wednesday evening ahead of his medical on Thursday.

After a failed medical at Sevilla, we’ll have to see if the club owned by Frank McCourt will raise the same issue with the left-back’s knee, but our guess is that they won’t.

They need Amavi too much, and it’s probably a risk they’re willing to take.
