Aston Villa wanted to bring former Chelsea player Tammy Abraham back to England last summer.

A year ago, journalist Ilario Di Giovambattista stated that Aston Villa had ‘closed’ the deal with AS Roma. The transfer, however, collapsed after the 26-year-old suffered a serious knee injury.

During his time at Chelsea, Abraham spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Aston Villa. They can bring him back to the club in the summer window if TuttoMercatoWeb is to be believed.

The England international is set to leave the Serie A side, and the track leading to Aston Villa ‘can be rekindled’.

TMW say the Giallorossi have to raise €10m before the end of this month to balance their accounts, and they have decided to sell the ex-Chelsea man. This presents Unai Emery’s side an opportunity to secure a quick deal, preferably for a reasonable price.

The knee injury forced Abraham to spend the majority of the recently concluded season on the sidelines, and he returned to the pitch in April.

Towards the end of May, various claims from Italy explained that AFC Bournemouth and Leicester City have shown interest in the frontman. These two clubs could provide competition to the Villans in the next window.
