On June 13th, Gazzetta dello Sport reported AS Roma’s Tammy Abraham could make a switch to Aston Villa in the summer window.
It was also said the striker had ‘practically agreed’ a deal with Aston Villa in 2023, but the deal collapsed after he suffered a serious injury.
Abraham spent a long spell on the sidelines and returned to the pitch in April. Over the past few weeks, the Italian media have stated his future is away from the Serie A side.
Il Romanista follows it up when discussing Aston Villa’s interest in the 26-year-old. The two parties know each other well as he spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Villa Park.
It’s claimed Roma’s valuation of between €25m and €30m is affordable for the Premier League sides, where Aston Villa are ‘in pole position’ to secure his services.
Unai Emery’s side are in the market for a striker as recent claims in the UK have stated they have agreed a deal with Chelsea for Jhon Durán. The Blues are yet to agree terms with the Colombian, which Il Romanista haven’t taken into account.
They add Aston Villa have to be wary of competition from Leicester City, while unnamed Serie A sides are looking at Abraham.
Everton aren’t named, but they look a very serious option given the Friedkin connection.
