The Brazilian media continues to sound very positive about Vasco da Gama’s chances of signing Philippe Coutinho from Aston Villa.

The latest story comes from journalist Jorge Nicola, who has published a YouTube video talking about the 31-year-old’s future.

It’s said that Coutinho knows he won’t be used by Aston Villa, and now understands it’s time to return to Brazil and play for his childhood club Vasco da Gama.

The midfielder is having a loan spell at Al-Duhail SC, but knows he won’t stay in Qatar, and his wife is even selling the furniture they have at their house there.

Now comes the hardest part, which is Vasco working to find a deal to pay for Coutinho’s wages. They can’t afford what he makes at Aston Villa, so they either need to find some partners to help them with the costs, or the English club continue to pay part of his salary.

The other option, of course, is Coutinho realising that if he’s in Brazil he should be on a wage relative to the league there, but that’s rare from footballers.

Earlier today, we covered a story from Brazil which said the Villans want €5-7m to let the player move on a permanent deal, and that makes a sale a real possibility.
