Back on Friday, reports from Turkey emerged that Aston Villa’s Trezeguet was the subject of interest from Fenerbahçe in the Süper Lig.

The Egyptian forward has been linked with a move away from Villa Park should the dreaded scenario of relegation take place, but there appears to be some confusion as to where he might end up.

At the beginning of April, French journalist Manu Lonjon explained that while Besiktas had been mentioned, it was Galatasaray who were ‘currently advancing’ to sign Trezeguet, and he’s brought his latest information to social media on Monday.

Clearly seeing the reports sending the Aston Villa man to Fenerbahçe, Lonjon pointed out that, according to his information, the two options for the 25-year-old were the aforementioned Galatasaray and ‘potentially [Istanbul] Başakşehir’.

Per his sources, there was ‘no exchanges with Fenerbahçe’ for Trezeguet.

We’ll have to wait and see what happens with Aston Villa in the Premier League first, as Dean Smith’s men currently sit in 18th with five games to go, one point behind 17th placed Watford.

It’s still all to play for, and should they stay up, this transfer saga may never develop beyond its current stage.
