Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez is set to face ‘hell’ with Argentina tonight when they travel to Barranquilla to take on Colombia.
That’s according to TyC Sports, who believe hell awaits for the Aston Villa star and his teammates when they take on their fierce rivals.
Argentina travel to Colombia to face Nestor Lorenzo’s side this evening in World Cup qualifying, with the home side the only undefeated team in qualifying to date.
The game is set to be a complicated affair for the world champions and not only because of the talented team they’ll be facing on the pitch.
TyC explain temperatures and humidity in Barranquilla will be high, to say the least, and uncomfortable. According to them the game is set to take place in temperatures above 32 degrees and with humidity at 100%.
That’s something that could have a big effect on the Argentina team, with Lionel Scaloni admitting as much before the game.
Then there’s the state of the pitch at the Roberto Meléndez Metropolitan Stadium. According to TyC the ‘grassing is high and uneven’ on the pitch, meaning passing based football is all the harder.
Then there’s the fact Colombia are out for revenge after defeat in the Copa America final this summer as well.
Of course, the Aston Villa man has his own personal history with the nation after his antics in that now infamous 2021 penalty shootout. We’re sure the Colombians haven’t forgotten that either.
So, high heats, higher humidity, a bad pitch and a nice interweaving of revenge all in a neat package to create ‘hell’, at least according to TyC.
