Inter Milan have ‘set their sights’ on Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey, according to InterLive.it.
The Serie A side have started looking for Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s successor. The 35-year-old managed two goals and 10 assists last season and has started in three league games this season.
Inter are well aware it won’t be easy for them to replace him. Their aim is to find a successor next summer and they’ve reportedly identified the Aston Villa player as the main target.
The report says Ramsey is the ‘right name’ to take Mkhitaryan’s place at the San Siro. They add the 23-year-old midfielder has a ‘high quality profile’ but is to ‘yet to explode completely’.
Ramsey graduated from Aston Villa’s youth system and made his way into their first team in 2019. He struggled with two injuries last season, which restricted him to 1,060 minutes from 21 games in all competitions.
He recovered from a toe injury in the summer and has made three substitute appearances this season. The Aston Villa man can operate across several positions in midfield.
InterLive.it state Simone Inzaghi’s side believe the Villans could sell him for €35m next summer. The ‘deal could take off’ for this price and Inter would try to lower the price by including one of their players as part of the operation.
Due to Ramsey’s potential, Inter believe his ‘valuation could rise enormously’ in the future and that they could buy for €35m and then sell for €70m at some point.
Got to love the Italian optimism.
