Aston Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen was one of three players to miss training with Sweden, according to Aftonbladet.
Sweden will host Moldova in a friendly tie before facing Belgium in the European qualifiers this month. Their manager, Janne Andersson, has called up Djurgårdens IF’s Jacob Widell Zetterström to train with the national team after Olsen missed training.
It’s claimed there seems to be no ‘great danger’ around the Aston Villa stopper’s fitness and he could be in contention to face Belgium next Monday despite Zetterström’s call up.
Andersson has stated the 33-year-old won’t be training until tomorrow and explained that Zetterström will train with Sweden for a “couple of days”.
“We took Jacob in. Robin Olsen is rehabbing today and tomorrow. That’s why Jacob joins and trains with us. As for Robin, there are wide margins. I’m not worried about Monday but he should take it easy these first few days,” he said, relayed by Aftonbladet.
Olsen, AIK’s Kristoffer Nordfeldt and Rotherham United’s Viktor Johansson were the three goalkeepers called up for this month’s international break. Andersson has insisted only three of them will be considered for the two games despite Zetterström’s late inclusion.
The Aston Villa player has been the first-choice stopper for Sweden and has only missed a handful of friendlies over the past two years.
At Villa Park, Olsen is providing cover to Emiliano Martínez, which is why he has managed only four appearances this season.
