AC Milan and Arsenal showed interest in Aston Villa Douglas Luiz in the summer, with the Gunners reportedly seeing bids turned down by their Premier League counterpart on deadline day.
According to Il Milanista, the Serie A winners failed to sign the 24-year-old in the last window due to Aston Villa’s high asking price.
The midfielder’s contract expires in 2023 and the report says discussions between the midfielder and Aston Villa are not evolving.
The Brazil international is ‘increasingly attracted’ to changing clubs and the possibility to join another side as a free agent gives him an option to choose the team he prefers. The Rossoneri are tagged in the report.
It’s claimed that Milan continue to follow Luiz with interest and they could be a welcome destination for him. The Italian champions are not alone as there are other clubs in the picture. AS Roma and Juventus are also keeping tabs on the South American.
Luiz and Aston Villa’s failure to agree a new deal could see Steven Gerrard’s side look to part ways with him in January, in order to avoid losing him for nothing next summer. This could give Milan and other clubs an opportunity to sign the player in the winter market.
