Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini has spoken about his joy after finally making his debut for the Serie A side. The 22-year-old joined Atalanta on loan from Aston Villa in the last window.
TMW have reported on comments the youngster made yesterday after finally get his first start for the Italian side. Gollini was given a chance after his rival for the Atalanta No.1 jersey Etrit Berisha conceded seven goals against Inter Milan the previous weekend.
Gollini said he was happy to finally get a chance in his side’s 3-0 victory over Pescara. The Aston Villa owned player went on to say being given a chance was a good birthday present.
“I’m glad about my debut for Atalanta: I could not ask for a better birthday present,” said the Aston Villa loanee.
Gollini only signed for Aston Villa in the last summer window, and started the season as Roberto Di Matteo’s number one. However, after Steve Bruce replaced the Italian boss Gollini eventually lost his place in the Aston Villa starting eleven, and was then loaned to Atalanta in January.
