Otávio arrived at FC Porto from Brazilian side Internacional in 2014 and his development there has seen likes of Aston Villa and a few others take notice.
Towards the end of June, several claims from the Portuguese press indicated the Villans are set to make an improved bid to sign the midfielder this summer.
Apart from Steven Gerrard’s side, Leeds United were also credited with interest in the 27-year-old. A month ago, his agent ruled out a move away from the Primeira Liga in the current window.
Aston Villa may have not forgotten about the Brazil-born Portugal international because their scouts were at the Estádio do Dragão to watch Porto’s 3-0 win over on Saturday.
This was reported by A Bola today and they only name clubs who were in attendance to watch the weekend league tie.
Otávio played the full 90 minutes for Porto and the Aston Villa officials could have taken a closer look at Gerrard’s target, with a view to making an approach to sign him in the future.
