Aston Villa’s move for defender Álex Moreno has ‘completely disrupted’ Real Betis’ plans this season and left them scrambling to find a replacement.
That’s according to Marca, who cover the imminent transfer today and how Betis were unprepared for it to happen.
They report that Betis had expected the January transfer window to be a ‘very quiet’ one but the proposal presented by Aston Villa for Moreno, which has been agreed but not yet been made official, has ‘completely disrupted’ those plans.
The Spanish club have been left scrambling because of it, so much so that those in charge at the Benito Villamarín are not ruling out more departures or even incomings.
The number one priority is to sign a replacement for Moreno, with the team’s technical secretary Antonio Cordón even travelling to Brazil in the last few hours to look at various options.
For the time being they are ‘awaiting official confirmation’ of Moreno’s arrival at Aston Villa before making any potential moves.
The transfer seems to be in the final stages for now, with teammate Borja Iglesias confirming as much when asked about it by Mundo Deportivo.
“We are a little bit waiting for the resolution,” he told the newspaper.
“Whatever comes will be the best for everyone. It can happen to all of us at any moment. Some leave and others come.
“I wish he was still with us, but we understand that. Whatever is good for him will be good for all of us. He has worked very hard.”
