Kosta Nedeljković’s debut for Serbia is set to cost Aston Villa €1.5m, as clauses in his transfer from Red Star have now been met.
That’s according to Mozzart Sport, who say Aston Villa will need to pay up thanks to the youngster’s rapid rise.
They explain that after imposing himself on Unai Emery and impressing him during pre-season training, leading to him being included in the first team squad this season, Nedeljković has also been impressing on the international stage.
He was handed his full debut for the 0-0 draw with Spain last week and was back in the team for the defeat to Denmark too.
That’s been noted by Red Star, who included bonuses in the deal to sell the youngster to Aston Villa in January.
One of those states that the red and whites are entitled to €1.5m when he makes his debut in the national team. Thus, the clause has been met and Aston Villa will need to pay up.
On the face of it, it seems strange the Villans allowed the clause to be one single appearance and not multiple appearances before the €1.5m needed to be paid, although maybe there’s further bonuses for that written in.
