Aston Villa today get a mention in the race for Barcelona winger Abde Ezzalzouli.
It’s Catalan outlet Sport who have been speaking about the 21-year-old’s future. The youngster is currently having a loan spell at Osasuna, but with good performances there, he’s been drawing the attention from other clubs.
The story is mostly focused on Leeds, who reportedly held a meeting with Abde’s agent, but the report then drags Aston Villa into this battle as well, as it’s claimed that Unai Emery’s side had previously ‘positioned’ themselves for that signing.
Even though it isn’t made clear when the Villans showed their interest, it’s pointed out that they sit in a better position than Leeds on the Premier League table, with ‘more regularity’.
Therefore, that’s a sign that they may still be fighting for that transfer, and could be a more attractive destination for the young forward.
Barcelona are still not entirely sure about what to do with Abde, because they’ll have him in their pre-season squad and they decide whether to sell him or not.
This means Aston Villa could be waiting a while yet to see if an opportunity shows up this summer.
