Sold to Aston Villa in January 2021 for £14m, Morgan Sanson hasn’t exactly been enjoying his time with the Villans.
That’s because neither Dean Smith nor Steven Gerrard appear to have been convinced by the midfielder, who has totalled a measly 19 appearances for the Villa Park side since joining, 10 of which have come this season.
However, all is not lost, as the Aston Villa flop could find himself a landing spot back in France in the summer, with Nantes reportedly keen to sign him.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who claim the player ‘isn’t dismissing leaving’ the Premier League side come the end of the season, with some sources even telling them Sanson simply ‘wants to leave’.
His profile is one Nantes ‘appreciate a lot’ and the door ‘could well open, for a loan or more’ since the English club ‘absolutely want to sign a midfielder during the next transfer window’.
Getting rid of Sanson would therefore allow Aston Villa more room to manoeuvre on the market, and that could bring more interest in the player, whether it comes from Ligue 1 or somewhere else in Europe.
