According to claims in the Spanish media Carles Gil’s proposed move from Aston Villa to Deportivo La Coruna is ‘very close’ to being completed. The Aston Villa attacker spent last season on loan with the Galician club.
Marca have today reported Deportivo coach Pepe Mel wants to strengthen the left wing position this summer, and the former West Bromwich Albion boss believes Gil’s versatility will be beneficial to this team.
Gil has expressed a desire to leave Aston Villa, and return to the Spanish club for next season. The 24-year-old made just 16 La Liga starts last season during a stop start season with the club.
However, Marca haven’t reported on the financial side of the deal, and it’s unlikely a move would be close if an offer hasn’t still been made to Aston Villa.
It seems his spell with the Championship side is coming to an end, but Aston Villa will be seeking the best deal for themselves. Depor have been keen for months, but it’s the financial side of a deal which has been proving difficult for the club.
