Aston Villa summer signing Enzo Barrenechea appears to be winning fans on loan at Valencia, earning praise for his early performances.
Plaza Deportiva cover the youngster today and how he’s gone from ‘unexpected’ signing in the summer to ‘emerging as the classic Argentine five’
The newspaper says the Aston Villa man has taken just two and a half games to show his worth, demonstrating ‘tactical order, rigor and neat ball delivery’ when given his chance.
That started with a 45-minute appearance against Atletico Madrid which ‘catapulted’ him into the starting 11 for the 2-0 win over Girona and then the 0-0 draw with Osasuna.
He’s still struggling for full fitness so didn’t finish those games, but the signs are all positive early on and Valencia have certainly been left impressed.
The feeling is that Barrenechea is adding the right balance to the team that had been missing beforehand, freeing Pepelu up from defensive duties in particular.
He’s still in a battle with other players to be a regular but has been doing enough to win fans over early and see Plaza Deportiva already compare him to Argentine players of the past.
That’s positive news for Aston Villa, who will surely be hoping he’s a regular in the coming months and can develop away from Villa Park.
