If Aston Villa fans were wondering how Wesley Moraes’ loan spell at Levante was going, then we’re afraid it’s bad news.
We’ve covered a few reports since the summer explaining that things were going badly for the Brazilian, who has not been the same player since picking up a knee injury a few years ago.
Basically, he was yet to do anything of note at the Spanish club and the last we covered, he was being given a big opportunity at the weekend against a lower league side to find some form and confidence.
It seems, though, that plan didn’t work out. Plaza Deportiva report on the player today and how he is ‘still without finding himself’ since departing Aston Villa in the summer.
They explain that Moraes is yet to score for his new side and that continued against lower league Olot over the weekend.
That game was his ‘umpteenth opportunity’ to open his account for the Spanish side but, aside from his unquestionable work outside the box, he continued to show the ‘apathetic version’ of himself that he’s been showing all season.
His manager is now publicly calling for the striker to start finding the back of the net, giving him a ‘dressing down’ in the press room but also praising him wherever possible.
It’s not his own lack of goals that ‘weighs on’ the Aston Villa loanee, though, but also the fact that the rest of the attacking line up have been scoring.
Wesley sees how he ‘lags behind’ his teammates and he knows that while things can change in the future, the present ‘is not very promising’ for him.
At the moment he finds himself in third place in the pecking order, with the club ‘still looking for the Wesley’ that they had hoped for. The player who once ‘marvelled’ at Aston Villa seems to be long gone.
