Youri Tielemans has been told to back his words with action after admitting he’s less than happy with his current situation at Aston Villa.

Former Belgium international Eddy Snelders has responded to the Aston Villa midfielder today after comments about playing time at Villa Park.

The Belgian midfielder joined Aston Villa on a free transfer from Leicester this summer after a disappointing end to his spell with the Foxes that saw them relegated to the Championship.

His arrival at Villa was part of a busy summer of rebuilding for them, with the club spending big to boost Unai Emery’s squad and further back him in the market.

Capturing Tielemans ahead of the competition was seen as something of a coup but he has barely featured so far this season, featuring in just 26% of the available minutes so far.

That’s something he’s less than happy about, commenting on the matter this week and revealing that he’s spoken to Emery about the issue and told the Spanish coach he believes he should be featuring more often.

That’s not a stance Snelders is accepting, though, believing this is something that’s been heard before when it comes to Tielemans.

“Tielemans has had a difficult period, also with the Red Devils,” he said.

“He says he is ready again, but he has said that many times and we have not seen much of it on the field in recent months. Will we get the Tielemans from 2-3 years ago again?”
