With River Plate winger Julián Álvarez contributing two goals and two assists in the 4-1 win over Newell’s Old Boys this week, he’s of course in the Argentine media’s spotlight.
A few outlets now bring stories on the player, as he already has eight goals and nine assists this season, and promises to be one of the club’s big sales pretty soon.
It turns out that a couple of reports reveal some clubs who’ve been interested in his signing, and Aston Villa are among them.
One of the reports comes from Olé. It’s said that besides Villa, Ajax and Orlando City also had the player ‘on their radar’.
Meanwhile, TN reports that in the last transfer window there were approaches from Ajax and Aston Villa. It’s claimed no one ‘accelerated’, and with rumours of offers of €10m, that wouldn’t be enough to sign the player from River anyway.
It’s reported that Álvarez’s release clause is €25m, and the Argentine side’s intention is to hold him at least until next summer. They believe the player and his price could continue to grow, especially if the Millonario get to go to the Club World Cup this year.
