Aston Villa have identified AS Roma’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan as a transfer target for the summer window.

That’s according to Alfredo Pedullà, who explains the attacker is liked by Steven Gerrard’s side. The 33-year-old is working to be fit in time for the UEFA Conference League final against Feyenoord on May 25th.

Mkhitaryan’s current deal runs until June 30th and the report states the Serie A side want to sit down with him to negotiate a new contract before the final in Tirana later this month.

The Armenian is happy in the Italian capital and the Giallorossi have offered him a two-year deal. However, Roma must ‘watch out for surprises and temptations’ from Italy and England, where Aston Villa are in the picture.

From Serie A, Inter Milan and Napoli like the former Manchester United and Arsenal man. From the Premier League, Aston Villa get a mention.

Pedullà also took to Twitter to discuss this information and further added that Aston Villa are among the clubs to have carried out polls for the player, which means some kind of contact has been made.

José Mourinho has used Mkhitaryan in the middle of the pitch, as an attacking midfielder and as a winger this season. He has managed five goals and nine assists in the process.
