Aston Villa and Leicester City sent officials to the game between Lille and Toulouse earlier in the week. The two Midlands club have in recent seasons brought in players from France, and Leicester City’s success last season was helped by recruiting in Ligue 1.
Scouts in Attendance have revealed Aston Villa and Leicester City attended the Ligue 1 clash on Tuesday night, which Toulouse won 2-0. The two clubs were also joined by fellow English sides Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton.
There have been no claims who Aston Villa and Leicester City were watching in Lille, but the two clubs have been active in France in recent years.
Leicester City pulled off the signing of last summer by signing N’Golo Kanté from Caen, and the previous year brought in Riyad Mahrez from Le Havre.The Premier League champions returned to France this summer to sign to land Nice’s Nampalys Mendy.
Aston Villa didn’t sign any players from the county in the last window, but did bring in Idrissa Gueye, Jordan Amavi, Jordan Veretout and Jordan Ayrew from Ligue 1 the previous summer.
