Aston Villa are in the picture for Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong, according to a report from Germany.
Operating as a right wing-back, he starred for the Bundesliga side last season, managing nine goals and 11 assists from 48 games, and has extended the good run into this season as he has two goals and three assists to his name.
The 22-year-old’s current deal expires in 2025 and Kicker have a report discussing his contract situation, during which Aston Villa get a mention.
It’s claimed the Netherlands international is set to commit his long-term future to the Bundesliga side by signing a new deal until 2028 and this would make him one of the top earners at the club.
The outlet also talks about Aston Villa’s interest in the ‘high-speed footballer’ as it’s said a move to an ambitious Premier League side like the Villans shouldn’t be an option yet for the Dutchman.
It seems ambitious for Unai Emery’s side to target the player and a potential deal will only become more challenging if and when he signs a new deal.
Kicker explain that Leverkusen will obviously have a better chance of retaining Frimpong beyond this season, should he renew the contract.
