Aston Villa, as well as trying to gain promotion back into the Premier League, are also thinking about the future.
This is what their decision to bring two Luxembourg U17 players in for a trial last week would suggest, and one of them really caught their eye.
Of Timothé Rupil and Eldin Dzogovic, it’s the former of the two who, according to Luxemburger Wort, will be returning to the club for a second spell so they can have another close look at him.
Spotted during an U17 friendly game against Belgium, the 15-year-old midfielder was invited alongside his teammate to Villa Park, where they spent four days with the club’s youth academy.
Despite losing all three of their games in the qualification for the U17 2019 Euros, the pair stood out, hence the Villains’ interest in them.
Currently at Käerjeng in the Luxembourg league, Rupil will be back in January to try and impress the Aston Villa staff once again, hoping to be signed by the Championship side.
