Aston Villa are reportedly one more Premier League side in the battle for Vasco da Gama starlet Andrey Santos.
Following stories from Brazil claiming Bournemouth and Newcastle United have both placed bids for the 18-year-old, we now see journalist Jorge Nicola claiming Steven Gerrard’s side are attentive to the youngster as well.
The story is mostly about Andrey’s situation at Vasco, as despite being chased by European sides, he’s just agreed a new contract with the club. This new deal is supposed to run until 2027.
Nicola then claims that besides Barcelona, Lyon and Newcastle, Aston Villa are interested in his signing as well.
Even though it had been claimed that the Magpies are offering €35m for the move, it’s said their bid is actually €20m. And Vasco have no intention of making a deal for those numbers, as their request is for at least €38.5m.
The journalist doesn’t say if Aston Villa are keen to soon make a bid for the player. It sounds too early to place an offer for a player who can only move in January, but since the competition for the transfer has been growing, the clubs will certainly try to anticipate the competition.
