FC Nordsjælland selling Jores Okore to Aston Villa was big news in Denmark, with the defender hyped up and a promising future expected of him. Villa hadn’t been the only club interested in signing Okore and that the Birmingham club won out was impressive at the time.
However, things didn’t go to plan and a combination of injury, form and application turned Okore’s time at Aston Villa into a nightmare. Now at FC Copenhagen and expected to get a chance against Ajax in the Europa League on Thursday night, Okore has explained he’s put what happened at Aston Villa behind him.
Speaking to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, Okore explained: “I’ve learned that I must return to my old virtues. I will work even harder in training and be even more humble.
“This is a world where things can quickly change. You need to have a lot of focus on what is happening here and now. For you never know what happens in a football club. The time at Aston Villa also taught me that I should not focus on the things I cannot control. It is a waste of time.
“I am happily moved on now. The time at Aston Villa I have put behind me. The most important thing for me has been to focus on something new and positive.”
Okore still fancies returning to play in England, despite his problems at Villa Park.
