Hurrah, Lyngby Boldklub are to be rescued!

Ekstra Bladet report that whilst nothing is yet official, a group of local investors have showed up and will provide the money to stop Lyngby’s impending bankruptcy.

Aston Villa had been touted this week as a possible saviour for the Danish club, but it doesn’t look like it’s the Villa horse riding to the rescue.

That doesn’t mean Aston Villa have walked away, with Ekstra Bladet saying the Championship club are ‘extremely interested’ in a building a deal to partner with Lyngby.

Villa have been searching for a Scandinavian partner club for some time, according to the Danish reports this week, and Lyngby was picked out.

There’s already been contact and a statement of intent made by Aston Villa, but they’re now unlikely to be the immediate rescue act.

Instead eyes turn to the summer and what would be a completion of Villa’s approach then. Between now and that time the local investors will work to get Lyngby on a more stable footing.
