Every time Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez joins the Argentine national team, there’s big noise around the World Cup hero.

As the squad now prepare for the Copa América, outlet La Voz features an interview with the 31-year-old, who’s ready to fight for another title for his country.

The different factor this time is that Martinez could play in two tournaments, as he also wants to take part in the Olympics later in the summer.

The Aston Villa goalkeeper is very open about that, and has no problem saying he may have to argue with his club to manage to go to Paris.

“It is a personal dream of mine to wear the gold,” said Martinez.

“I know that my club did not let any national team player go, they blocked them all.

“I always put the Argentine team first and if I have to fight a little more with the club, I will.”

The Copa America is being played in the United states between June 20th and July 14th. Football in the Olympics will take place between July 24th and August 10th. That’s basically a week before the start of the Premier League.

That means Martinez wouldn’t get to be in pre-season with Aston Villa, and as the club are not obligated to let him go to Paris, that’s a problem they’ll need to sort out.
