Given the green light to join Sevilla a week or so ago, Jordan Amavi’s dream transfer away from Villa Park collapsed because of a, seemingly, dodgy medical.
The La Liga side weren’t too happy with something in the player’s knee, despite the 23-year-old playing most of last season without a hiccup, and the move was cancelled.
Sevilla are now said to be considering a loan move for the left-back, but that probably won’t go down too well with Aston Villa, who were looking forward to the money.
Fortunately for Dr Tony Xia and co., there’s a second club that seem keen on the Frenchman, and that club is Ligue 1 champions Monaco.
According to France Football this week, the ‘medical issues’ put forward by Sevilla were a cover for ‘problems with agent commissions’, yet that hasn’t put off the principality club, who still have Amavi on their summer transfer shortlist.
However, the only way this transfer would happen is if Benjamin Mendy is sold, and, despite being ‘on the verge’ of signing for Manchester City for about two months now, that hasn’t happened yet.
It’s certainly an alternative worth waiting for.
