Probably one of the few Aston Villa players to have some value on the transfer market despite spending most of the season injured, Jordan Amavi could get a quick escape from the Championship, albeit temporarily.
The 22-year-old left-back got severely injured while playing for his country’s U21 team last November, meaning it was a season of frustration more than anything else for the ex-Nice starlet, but his early performances were certainly eye-catching.
Fully aware of his talent thanks to his time in the French division, most Ligue 1 clubs would be all for a loan deal, which is exactly what La Gazette des Transferts are suggesting.
The French magazine claim that AS Nancy-Lorraine, Dijon FCO, FC Metz (all three promoted from Ligue 2), Toulouse and Bastia would all be prepared to ask Aston Villa for a loan, which, if agreed, would considerably bolster their defences.
Taking into account those clubs’ budgets, we’d wager a guess at them asking Aston Villa paying for the vast majority of the player’s wages, which, with new owners, they’d probably happily do if it means the player rediscovering some form in a league he knows.
