Bought by Tim Sherwood back in the summer of 2015, Jordan Amavi is now with his fourth (five if you count Eric Black) manager in just over a year, with the Championship club currently 11th in the Championship.

Working under the aforementioned Sherwood, Rémi Garde (although he was injured for most of the Frenchman’s time in charge), Roberto Di Matteo and now Steve Bruce, the 22-year-old defender gave a big interview to So Foot in France about his ligament injury suffered last season, and his time at the Midlands club.

Declaring himself ‘100% fit’, the young full-back is pleased with how things are going under the new manager, yet didn’t have anything bad to say about his predecessor, who struggled to get the best out of the squad at the beginning of the season.

He said: “Roberto Di Matteo was a good coach. Here, we’re in a good patch since Steve Bruce is here. A Eureka moment? A psychologic shock? I hope that we’re going to continue this way. Bruce just gives off an authoritative aura.

“He’s tightening the bolts. With him, you need to walk straight, but he’s someone who likes to laugh at training. On match day, however, he doesn’t. If it doesn’t go well, he shouts.”

Barely used by Di Matteo, the player has now played every minute of Aston Villa’s last five games, picking up an assists against Cardiff in the process.

Also back in the France U21 setup, things are looking up for Amavi, who made it clear in the same interview he wasn’t planning on going anywhere anytime soon.
