We all know that clubs scout players, and often send observers to keep an eye on youth teams just in case they can find a gem before anyone else.
You often see clubs keeping an eye on 15 or 16-year-olds, but Aston Villa and Crystal Palace have decided to look at the level below, according to Africa Top Sports.
The website explain their target is U14 Quevilly-Rouen Métropole forward Daniel Akinleye, who has already played for the U15s at the age of 13.
The two English clubs named are Aston Villa and Crystal Palace, who are said to be ‘following his performances with attention’, and ‘scouts of these clubs are following him closely’.
Tall for his age (5’6”), it’s said his movement and speed are impressive for his size, which is perhaps, in the day and age of Erling Haaland, what has caught the attention of so many clubs.
Providing competition for the Villains and the Eagles are some Ligue 2 sides, although they remain unnamed for the time being.
This is obviously something to keep an eye on, but it’s also clear both Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are doing this for the future, and certainly not the present.
