Fiorentina are the latest club to join the race to sign Aston Villa midfielder Carlos Sanchez according to claims in Italy. The Colombia international looks set to leave the Championship side this summer, and has already been linked with a move to Ligue 1 side Marseille.
Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio has revealed Fiorentina have put in an offer to sign Sanchez before the transfer deadline, with claims they want to take the South American on loan for the season. Fiorentina coach Paulo Sousa is still hoping to bring in reinforcements in this transfer window, as the Serie A side look to build on last year.
It’s been reported Aston Villa are now giving consideration to the proposal, and a decision should be made soon. However, Aston will be hoping to recoup what they paid Elche for the player two years ago, and therefore may be hoping for a permanent transfer rather than a loan deal.
Sanchez joined Aston Villa on the back of his impressive displays for Colombia during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. However, he has never re-produced the form he showed for his country in his two years with Aston Villa.
The player himself vetoed a move to Marseille last month, and it may be considered he’s fortunate to now get the opportunity of Fiorentina.
