Marseille have entered into talks with Aston Villa to sign midfielder Carlos Sanchez, according to claims in France. The Colombian is looking to leave Aston Villa in this window following their relegation to the Championship last season.
In their Thursday transfer section, L’Equipe have reported that discussions are under way for Sanchez to return to France for next season. The 30-year-old had a six-year spell with Valenciennes before he signed for La Liga side Elche in 2013, and the midfielder is likely to welcome a move back to Ligue 1.
If Sanchez was to move to Marseille it would only cost the French side in the region of €3m despite the player having two years left on his contract.
Sanchez joined Aston Villa on the back of his impressive displays for Colombia during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. However, he has never re-produced the form he showed for his country in his two years with Aston Villa.
The Championship side will now be hoping to re-coup as much as they can to what they paid Elche.
