Aston Villa are ‘very close to closing’ a deal for Real Betis defender Alex Moreno and are already looking for a replacement for him.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say the full-back will be moving to Villa Park in a deal worth €15m with variables included.
Villa are expected to be busy this month as Unai Emery seeks to reshape the squad he inherited from his predecessor Steven Gerrard.
He has targeted a new left-back and set his sights on Moreno, with numerous reports over the last few weeks making it clear they are interested.
That has now escalated, with reports today stating that a deal is now close to being completed and Moreno has been left out of Betis’ latest training group as a result.
Mundo Deportivo back that up, stating that Aston Villa and Betis are ‘very close to closing’ a deal worth €15m including bonuses for the full-back.
They are even ‘looking for a replacement’ for the player, with Hector Bellerín and Matías Viña among the options being explored.
That is further proof that Moreno is on his way to Aston Villa, who seem to be on the verge of their first major signing of Emery’s reign.
