It’s been Sanson-mania today in France, with multiple reports suggesting the player is edging ever closer to a move to Aston Villa.
The Villans were said to be in ‘advanced’ negotiations with Marseille regarding the midfielder’s transfer, with reports claiming the deal could be done at around €20m.
Well, RMC Sport have information of their own on the matter, reporting Aston Villa’s official offer was ‘nearing €18m’, with the move approved by Dean Smith, who ‘wants’ Sanson at the club.
As things stand, the two clubs are still negotiating, but they are ‘close to an agreement’ that would see the 26-year-old finally get his move to England after years of rumours suggesting he could make the switch.
While the likes of Newcastle or even West Ham were mentioned in the past, it’s Aston Villa, currently in good form and potentially in a position to break in the top four if they win all their games in hand, who will be the beneficiaries of a player capable of featuring in various roles in midfield.
