Aston Villa are closing in on Hellas Verona goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini, according to claims in Italy last night. The 21-year-old could look to leave the Italian side this summer after the club were relegated to Serie B.
TMW have claimed Gollini has travelled to England ahead of his proposed move to Aston Villa in this transfer window. The West Midlands side have been on the hunt for a new goalkeeper in recent months, and it seems Gollini will be the man to come in.
It’s expected Aston Villa will offer Verona a transfer fee between €5m and €6m. Fulham are also said to be interested in the youngster, and could move in if the deal was to fall through with Aston Villa.
Gollini started in the Fiorentina youth System, before finishing his apprenticeship with Manchester United. The Italian had two years in the Manchester United youth academy, but never made an appearance for the senior team.
He joined Verona in 2014, and he was their regular goalkeeper during the 2014/15 season. However, he lost his place last season, and now looks surplus to requirements with the Serie B side.
