Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers are in the picture for Lens defender Kevin Danso, with a €25m offer already rejected.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who report that the French side have already refused €25m offer from Wolves for the defender.
They explain that this was refused by the French club’s management, who have set a much higher asking price for their man should Wolves, Aston Villa or any other suitors make more bids.
FM state that things are ‘seriously starting’ to get exciting around Danso, who has been the pillar of the defence under Will Still. He’s highly sought-after and is a target for several clubs in Europe.
Fenerbahce made an offer at the beginning of the January transfer window but that was rejected. Wolves then made a €22m plus bonuses bid after approaching Danso about a move to Molineux.
Lens rejected this, though, and have decided to wait. They don’t need the money after selling Abdukodir Khusanov to Manchester City. This solved many ‘internal problems’ at the club from a financial point of view.
Thus, they can wait to see what offers come in for the centre-back and have set a €25m plus €5m in bonuses target. It remains to be seen whether Wolverhampton or one of several other suitors will come forward with that.
Aston Villa are one of those among the ‘declared candidates’ for the 26-year-old and could make a bid for him. They’re on the hunt for a central defender before the end of the window.
Either way, Danso’s future is up in the air, and he is likely to be a name that is mentioned a lot before the window shuts.
