Bournemouth were amongst the first clubs to make a move for Bologna’s Jhon Lucumi and the Italian press have also spoken of Aston Villa’s interest in the centre-back.
More has now emerged about the Colombian’s situation at Bologna with Corriere dello Sport adding detail to the situation.
They report the centre-back’s release clause of €28m expires on July 10th and neither of Aston Villa or Bournemouth are willing to pay that amount.
So far, Aston Villa and Bournemouth have come up with offers that are less than the €28m clause and there are no signs that they will make renewed attempts.
Optimism is rising in Bologna about keeping Lucumi and potential suitors will have to hurry, with the Rossoblu not really looking for replacements.
The 26-year-old has impressed under two managers over the past couple of seasons, playing a crucial role in the club’s Coppa Italia win under Vincenzo Italiano in the 2024/25 campaign.
Maybe Bologna are bluffing and after July 10th, they won’t cling to that €28m as strongly.
