Ballo-Touré

Leading up to the January transfer window, a lot of rumours were circulating regarding the future of Jordan Amavi at Aston Villa.

Steve Bruce’s trusted left-back was a target for Marseille, who were looking to bolster their very weak defence, but the player’s reluctance to return to France so soon and leave midseason quickly put an end to that.

However, that doesn’t mean the Ligue 1 side have given up altogether on the Aston Villa defender, and, despite Patrice Evra’s arrival, a return in the summer should be anticipated, especially if they were prepared to spend £25m on him.

The France U21 international could also interest other clubs around Europe, including ones from the Premier League, and with the Villains unlikely to make the playoffs this season, an exit could be on the cards.

Yet, according to Madein Foot in France, Steve Bruce could very well have already found his replacement in Paris Saint-Germain’s Fodé Ballo-Touré.

The 20-year-old is unlikely to be offered a professional contract in the summer, meaning a potential free transfer, and with a lot of Premier League sides also interested, Aston Villa could have the advantage of offering him guaranteed time on the pitch.

Ballo-Touré is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Ligue 1 champions despite playing an integral part in their B team’s great run in the Youth (Champions) League.

One to keep an eye on over the coming months.
