It’s probably now safe to say that Lucas Torreira’s loan at Atletico Madrid didn’t go as expected. Even though the move was surrounded by big expectations, his few minutes for the La Liga side now show it’s unlikely he’ll stay at the club for longer.
That’s why the Spanish press already has some stories on the future of the Arsenal player, with Fichajes bringing the latest today.
The outlet features an article naming the signings who manager Eduardo Coudet wants at Celta Vigo in the summer. One of them is said to be Lucas Torreira.
Fichajes writes it’s likely the midfielder will return to Arsenal in the summer, but should soon leave on a permanent move, since ‘Arteta does not like him’.
The report reckons this situation means he could leave the Emirates Stadium ‘at a low price’, which would make the signing affordable for Celta Vigo.
Torreira only has 629 minutes played in 22 appearances for Atletico Madrid this season. That will hit Arsenal’s chances of getting a good fee in the summer.
The Uruguayan’s contract with the Gunners runs until 2023.
