Arsenal are eyeing a move for Villarreal youngster Yeremy Pino after his impressive start to the season for the Spanish side.
That’s according to Fichajes, who say the Gunners are continuing their rebuilding efforts, and the Spanish winger is on their list of targets.
They say that Mikel Arteta wants to continue ‘rejuvenating’ his squad with young talent and has asked for a new signing, Pino.
He’s become ‘one of the sensations’ of La Liga since his breakthrough at Villarreal, where he is an undisputed starter under Unai Emery.
He has two goals and three assists in 16 games this season and is an important player for the Yellow Submarine, who’ve had a tough start to the season but can still qualify from the group stages in the Champions League.
Arteta has followed the player’s ‘steady progress’ so far and sees him as a player who would be an ‘interesting signing’ for Arsenal’s attack, which could be set to lose both Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pépé next summer.
One stumbling block is that Pino is close to agreeing to a contract extension with Villarreal, which would obviously make things more difficult for them in terms of a transfer.
This was reported by Partidazo Cope on Wednesday, and Fichajes say Arsenal are ‘following the situation’, as well as Real Madrid’s reported interest in him.
At the moment, it seems their interest is just a passing one, but should the likes of Pépé leave next summer, we could easily see this one picking up pace.
