On Thursday, the Brazilian edition of Goal broke the news saying Arsenal are interested in the signing of Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimarães.

The outlet said the Gunners have been in contact with the French side, who demand at least €35m to open talks with the move.

Sport Witness later managed to confirm the news, with our sources adding that it’s still not known if the Premier League side will be able to match that price.

Now it turns out that Lance brings the same information, saying the Gunners are currently ‘monitoring the player and could ‘intensify the contacts’ in a near future.

In that first approach made by Arsenal, it’s said the response was that Bruno Guimarães is currently focused on the Olympics.

That means nothing should be sorted until the end of the tournament, which is scheduled for August 7th, thus probably delaying matters until somewhere around mid-August.

It’s claimed the midfielder is a player who the Gunners ‘should keep an eye until the end of the transfer window’, as he’s one of the alternatives the club have following the rejection of Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli.
